Hawksbill’s approach to trading incorporates a multiple number of technical trading systems each of which rely heavily on the analysis and interpretation of historical patterns of daily, weekly, and monthly price fluctuations. All systems are developed and researched internally. All systems can be characterized as trend-following where the majority of trades being established in the direction of the trend. However, in certain situations counter-trend trades will be utilized if Hawksbill anticipates the end of the trend. In addition, Hawksbill will also initiate a trades that is not formally indicated by one of their systems in order to catch specific trends that develop “suddenly and without advance signals”. Risk control is emphasized through internally developed money management rules and through the use of multiple systems trading a well diversified portfolio. When certain markets are trending sharply Hawksbill will shift additional amounts of committed equity in order to take advantage of these unusual situations.
