The derivative products which are being gradually introduced, are contracts based on various financial assets such as stocks, stock indices, interest rates and bonds. Their value, performance and return depend upon the underlying asset on which they are based. Bolsa de Mercadorias & Futuros (Sao Paulo) (BMF)-Brazil
On August 29, 2002, BM&F launched the Brazilian Commodities Exchange, which unites the commodity exchanges of Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, Rio Grande do Sul and Uberlândia. BM&F renders clearing and settlement services to the new exchange. The aim is to create an integrated domestic market for agricultural commodities with modern price discovery mechanisms and an organized marketing structure. The Brazilian Commodities Exchange started trading on October 22, 2002.

Chicago Board of Trade (CBT) )-United States
The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT®), established in 1848, is a leading futures and options on futures exchange. More than 3,600 CBOT members trade 50 different futures and options products at the exchange through open auction and/or electronically. Volume at the exchange in 2003 was a record breaking 454 million contracts.

Chubu Commodity Exchange (CCX)-Japan
At the time of the merger on October 1,1996, commodities listed and traded on Central Japan Commodity Exchange included agricultural products (imported soybeans and red beans) etc. on a physical delivery future basis. Added subsequently as new commodities were, from November 1,1999, Japan's first cash settlement of livestock product (shell eggs) futures, from January 12, 2000, physical delivery futures transactions of oil products (gasoline and kerosene), and then from May 23, 2000, physical delivery futures transactions of NON-GMO (non genetically modified organisms) Soybeans. And on January 9, 2004, Gasoil was launched. Tradings of all commodities on the Exchange is brisk.

Commodity Exchange Inc. (New York) (COMEX) )-United States
The New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc., is the world's largest physical commodity futures exchange and the preeminent trading forum for energy and precious metals. The Exchange has stood for market integrity and price transparency throughout its 132-year history. Transactions executed on the Exchange avoid the risk of counterparty default because the Exchange clearinghouse acts as the counterparty to every trade. Trading is conducted through two divisions, the NYMEX Division, home to the energy, platinum, and palladium markets; and the COMEX Division, on which all other metals trade. Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE)-China
The DCE provides a marketplace for Chinese agricultural products including futures for soybeans and soybean meal.

Deutsche Terminbourse (DTB)-Germany
Formerly the DTB, now known as the Eurex is the world’s largest futures and options exchange and is jointly operated by Deutsche Börse AG and SWX Swiss Exchange. The Exchange is the market place of choice for trading and clearing of derivatives. Eurex has been a pioneer in electronic trading of derivative products for more than a decade, and it offers its customers open, democratic, simple, and cost-effective access from any point around the globe. The trading participants are connected to the Eurex system via a communications network; at present, some 700 locations worldwide are connected to Eurex.

European Electricity Exchange (EEX)
European Energy Exchange Germany's energy exchange and is located in Leipzig. Preceding companies were LPX Leipzig Power Exchange, located in Leipzig and European Energy Exchange, located in Frankfurt. Both exchanges and their supporting associations merged within the year 2002. The objective of European Energy Exchange is to become the leading energy exchange in Central Europe. In future power, gas and other energy sources are to be tradable at EEX. This range is to be completed by services related to the exchange, such as Clearing of transactions outside the exchange (OTC Clearing).

Helsinki Exchanges (HEX)-Finland
HEX Integrated Markets, division of OMHEX, is the largest securities market in northern Europe. International Monetary Market (Division of CME) (IMM)-United States
The Financial Futures Market that is part of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. The IMM provides a global marketplace for financial and index products of the CME including futures and options for the S&P 500, currency contracts and interest contracts.

International Petroleum Exchange of London Ltd. (IPE)-United Kingdom
The International Petroleum Exchange of London Limited is a recognized Investment Exchange. It is Europe's leading energy futures and options exchange. The IPE provides a highly regulated marketplace where industry participants use futures and options to minimise their price exposure in the physical energy market. Over $2 billion daily in underlying value is traded on the IPE. The IPE provides a global marketplace for energy products including futures and options for Brent crude oil, gas oil and natural gas.

Italian Derivatives Market (IDEM)-Italy
Part of the Italian Stock Exchange, the IDEM provides a global marketplace for financial and stock derivatives including futures on indexes as well as futures on stocks. warrants, Exchange traded funds, Unit trusts, mutual funds, bonds and a new pilot program to trade U.S. securities.

Italian Exchange (MOT)

Italian Stock Exchange/Milan Domestic Futures Exchange (SIA)-Italy

Kansas City Board of Trade (KCBT) )-United States
The KCBOT provides a global marketplace for agricultural and index products that include futures and options for red winter wheat and the Value Line Index.

Kansai Commodity Exchange (KEX)
The KEX provides a global marketplace for agricultural products including futures and/or options for frozen shrimp, coffee index, corn index, imported soybeans, Azuki beans, raw sugar and raw silk.

Kuala Lumpur Commodity Exchange (KLCE)-Malaysia
The futures industry commenced with the establishment of the Kuala Lumpur Commodity Exchange (KLCE), the first futures exchange in Southeast Asia in July 1980. In December 15, 1995, the birth of KLOFFE heralded a significant event in the development of the nation's capital market with the launch of KLOFFE's stock index futures contract. Korean Options and Futures Exchange (KOFEX)-Korea
Korea Futures Exchange is the Nation’s only total derivative product exchange that trades general product futures and diverse option products such as Interest futures, currency futures, and stock-related futures. Futures Exchange opened with four products, American Dollar futures, CD Interest futures, gold futures, and American dollar option in Busan, April 1999 to began a new era of Korea's futures market. In September, 1999, national debt futures was listed and in January and December of 2001, KOSDAQ 50 futures and KOSDAQ 50 options were each listed, and in May of 2002, National debt option was listed, which was Korea's first American style future option.

National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations(NASDAQ) )-United States
Created in 1971, the Nasdaq was the world's first electronic stock market. The Nasdaq is a computerized system that facilitates trading and provides price quotations on some 5,000 of the more actively traded over-the-counter stocks. The Nasdaq is traditionally home to many high-tech stocks. The big ones include Microsoft, Intel, Dell, and Cisco.

NASDAQ National Market (Large Cap) (NASNM) )-United States
The Nasdaq National Market consists of over 3000 companies that have a national or international shareholder base, meet stringent financial requirements, and agree to specific corporate governance standards. This is what most people are referring to when they talk about the Nasdaq. The larger companies trade on the Nasdaq. National Market, while the smaller companies trade on the Nasdaq SmallCap Market. To list initially, companies are required to have significant net tangible assets or operating income, a minimum public float of 500,000 shares, at least 400 shareholders, and a bid price of at least $5.

NASDAQ Over The Counter (OTC) )-United States
A security which is not traded on an exchange, usually due to an inability to meet listing requirements trades OTC. For such securities, brokers/dealers negotiate directly with one another over computer networks and by phone. The NASD carefully monitors their activities. The Nasdaq is considered to be an OTC market, with the tier 1 being represented by companies such as Microsoft, Dell, and Intel. Be very wary of some OTC stocks, the OTC:BB (Bulletin Board) stocks are either penny stocks or hold bad credit records.

The OTC Bulletin Board® (OTCBB) is a regulated quotation service that displays real-time quotes, last-sale prices, and volume information in over-the-counter (OTC) equity securities. An OTC equity security generally is any equity that is not listed or traded on Nasdaq® or a national securities exchange.  OTCBB securities include national, regional, and foreign equity issues, warrants, units, American Depositary Receipts (ADRs), and Direct Participation Programs (DPPs).

Philadelphia Board of Trade (PBOT) )-United States
The Philadelphia Board of Trade (PBOT), PHLX's futures exchange subsidiary, has begun trading enhanced foreign exchange (FX) futures, with new rules and a low-cost fee structure. The PBOT will trade FX futures, initially focusing on G-7 currencies. With the addition of futures trading, the PHLX now provides a single venue to trade a full spectrum of products including equities, equity options, index options, currency options and futures. All options and futures traded at the PHLX and at the PBOT will clear at the Options Clearing Corporation.

South African Futures Exchange (SAFEX)-South Africa
An informal futures market was started in South Africa by local merchant bank Rand Merchant Bank (RMB) in April 1987. It was the exchange, the clearing house and the only market maker and although it survived the October1987 market crash, volumes remained relatively thin. In September 1988 it was decided to broaden the market and ensure widespread trust in the independence of the exchange and clearing house by forming Safex and the Safex Clearing Company (Pty) Limited (Safcom). The products listed were only futures contracts on the major JSE indices (All share, Gold and Industrial), on the most active long -dated bond (the E168 issued by Eskom), on the three month liquid bankers acceptance rate and on the US$ price of gold.

Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE)-Shanghai
Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) is a self-regulated non-profit organization, providing the place, facilities and services for the centralized trading of futures contracts. At present, there are five contracts including copper, aluminum and natural rubber, while plywood and long-grained rice contracts are under modification. SHFE has about 219 members, of which, 183 are brokerage firms, and the rest are proprietary members.

Singapore International Monetary Exchange (SIMEX)-Singapore
Now part of the SGX, Singapore Exchange (SGX) is Asia-Pacific's first de-mutualised and integrated securities and derivatives exchange. SGX was inaugurated on 1 December 1999, following the merger of two established and well-respected financial institutions - the Stock Exchange of Singapore (SES) and the Singapore International Monetary Exchange (SIMEX).

Futures and options traded on the SGX include equity index, interest rate, energy and single stocks.

Singapore Exchange (SGX)-Singapore
SGX was inaugurated on 1 December 1999, following the merger of two established and well-respected financial institutions - the Stock Exchange of Singapore (SES) and the Singapore International Monetary Exchange (SIMEX). The securities division trades bonds, debentures, loan stocks, company warrants structured warrants, exchange traded funds and REIT’s.

Swiss Option & Financial Futures Exchange (SOFFEX)-Switzerland
Formerly the SOFFEX, now part of the Eurex, is the world’s largest futures and options exchange and is jointly operated by Deutsche Börse AG and SWX Swiss Exchange. The Exchange is the market place of choice for trading and clearing of derivatives. Eurex has been a pioneer in electronic trading of derivative products for more than a decade, and it offers its customers open, democratic, simple, and cost-effective access from any point around the globe. The trading participants are connected to the Eurex system via a communications network; at present, some 700 locations worldwide are connected to Eurex.

Singapore Commodity Exchange (SICOM)-Singapore
Singapore Commodity Exchange provides a centralized and regulated marketplace for commodity futures to be traded in Singapore. This paves the way for Singapore to become a commodity futures trading centre complementing its international trading activities. Rubber futures have been traded in Singapore since the 1920s. Clearing facilities for the futures transactions were then provided by the Singapore International Chamber of Commerce Rubber Association. These were subsequently taken over by the Rubber Association of Singapore, which was privatized in 1992 as the RAS Commodity Exchange. This was in turn renamed the Singapore Commodity Exchange in February 1994 to better reflect its mission to be a broad-based commodity exchange. Additionally, Robusta coffee futures are traded on the SICOM.

The Stock Exchange, Mumbai (BSE)-India
The Stock Exchange, Mumbai, popularly known as "BSE" was established in 1875 as "The Native Share and Stock Brokers Association". It is the oldest one in Asia, even older than the Tokyo Stock Exchange, which was established in 1878. It is a voluntary non-profit making Association of Persons (AOP) and is currently engaged in the process of converting itself into demutualised and corporate entity. It has evolved over the years into its present status as the premier Stock Exchange in the country. Tokyo Commodity Exchange (formerly TOCOM) (TCE)-Japan
The TCE provides a global commodity marketplace for raw materials including futures for gold, silver, platinum, palladium, aluminum, gasoline, kerosene, crude oil, gas oil and rubber.

Toronto Futures Exchange (TFE) –Canada
A wholly owned subsidiary of the TORONTO STOCK EXCHANGE (TSE),  trading Toronto 35 Index and TSE 100 Index futures, TSE 100 Index and Toronto 35 Index options, and Toronto 35 Index Participation (TIPs) options. Options are traded on the TSE. Trading is by open outcry.

Tokyo Grain Commodity Exchange (TGE)-Japan
One of the leading commodity futures exchanges in Asia, the Tokyo Grain Exchange is a non-profit membership organization presently trading corn, Non-GMO soybean, U.S. soybean, soybean meal, azuki (red bean), arabica coffee, robusta coffee and raw sugar futures. Options on corn, U.S. soybean and raw sugar futures are also being traded.

Tokyo International Financial Futures Exchange (TIFFE)-Japan
TIFFE stands for Tokyo International Financial Futures Exchange Inc.. TIFFE was established in April 1989 under the Financial Futures Trading Law of Japan. The purposes of TIFFE are to provide a financial futures market and conduct clearing services for its members and their customers. TIFFE has been constantly characterized as the youngest and more innovative exchange in Japan and has been making every effort to strengthen its status and role as a mother market for Euroyen futures and Yen-related interest-rate derivatives and to introduce cutting-edge technologies and systems. Screen-traded market for 3-month Euroyen futures and options, and futures on the 1-year Euroyen, 3-month Eurodollar and U.S. dollar/Japanese yen currency.

Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE)-Japan
Largest of eight stock exchanges in Japan and one of the largest, most important, and most active stock markets in the world. TSE is a continuous auction market, similar to open outcry. It uses the Floor Order-Routing and Execution System (FORES), an electronic system, for trading the 150 most active domestic stocks. Less-active stocks are traded through the Computer-Assisted Order-Routing and Execution System (CORES). The Tokyo Stock Price Index (TOPIX) is a composite of all stocks on the first section of the exchange, supplemented by size groups that classify first section companies as small, medium, and large and by sub-indices for each of the 33 industry groups. The NIKKEI STOCK AVERAGE, known as the Nikkei 225, and the Nikkei 500 are the principal indices and are calculated by a formula similar to the DOW JONES INDUSTRIAL AVERAGE.

Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX)-Canada
Largest stock exchange in Canada, listing some 1200 company stocks and 33 options. Toronto Stock Exchange provides an efficient, liquid market for senior equities. Listed companies on the senior exchange represent a broad range of businesses from across Canada, the United States and other countries. Vancouver Stock Exchange (VSE)-Canada
Alberta Stock Exchange and Vancouver Stock Exchange have merged to form Canadian Venture Exchange. TSX Venture Exchange, Canada's venture capital marketplace, provides emerging companies with access to capital, while offering investors a well-regulated market for making venture investments. TSX Venture listed companies are active in mining, oil and gas, manufacturing, technology, financial services and other sectors.

Wiener Borse AG (WB)-Austria
The cash market offers investors access to Austria’s most attractive stocks. Apart from stocks, the securities traded include investment fund certificates and index certificates, participation certificates, profit-sharing certificates, and subscription rights. Fixed-income securities such as bonds are also listed. Futures and options are traded on the derivatives market. Market participants may buy and sell contracts on Austrian stocks, on the ATX (Austrian Traded Index) and on the CECE indices. In addition, a separate Warrants Market has been established for trading in warrants. Another product group is the indices developed, calculated and disseminated in real time by Wiener Börse AG. The best known indices are the ATX (Austrian Traded Index), which represents the continuously traded stocks with the highest liquidity and market capitalization, the ATX Prime and the ViDX (Vienna Dynamic Index).
